Sergio Ramos asked the President of the Spanish Football Federation Luis Rubiales to help him win the Ballon d'Or in 2019, according to El Confidencial. The appeal of the then captain of Real Madrid, which caused a real scandal, got into the network.

The call was like this:

'Ruby, you know I never asked for anything. But now I want to ask a favor. I think it was a special year for me and for the team. I would be grateful to the end of my days. I ask not so much for myself, but for all Spanish football.

The story looks rather strange, since Ramos was not then among the candidates for victory - the fight was between Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk. Rubiales did not help Ramos in any way, Messi won the prize.
