The 12th round of the German Bundesliga kicked off with a clash between two lower-table teams, as St. Pauli hosted Holstein Kiel.

The hosts took the lead midway through the first half when Lukas Daschner set up Manolis Saliakas, who struck a stunning shot off the post and into the net. Before halftime, the visitors had a golden opportunity to equalize, but Jann-Fiete Arp failed to convert a penalty.

In the 56th minute, St. Pauli doubled their advantage. Once again, it was Eggestein providing the assist, as Jessic Ngankam slotted the ball past the keeper from close range. The standout performer, Eggestein, then got on the scoresheet himself in the 85th minute, calmly finishing off a cross from Troja.

Holstein Kiel showed some fight in stoppage time. Holmbert Fridjonsson unleashed a powerful long-range effort to reduce the deficit, and moments later, Rasmus Gigovic rattled the post with a near miss.

The match ended 3-1 in favor of St. Pauli, a crucial victory that lifted them to 15th place in the standings.
