FIFA

The 2034 FIFA World Cup is likely to follow the precedent set by Qatar 2022 and take place during the winter months. Although the decision has not yet been officially announced, the chances of a winter tournament are extremely high.

The competition, set to be hosted in Saudi Arabia, faces significant challenges with extreme summer heat, making winter the most feasible option for scheduling matches.

Winter Scheduling: Decision Pending

The official confirmation of the tournament’s rescheduling to winter is expected during the FIFA Congress on December 11. Should the decision go through, it will mark the second instance of a World Cup moving away from traditional summer dates.

Expanding the Format

Additionally, the 2034 World Cup will follow the expanded format debuting in 2026, featuring 48 teams, which promises to deliver more action and drama to the global stage.
