Dovbyk Falls Ill, Risking Absence in Ukraine's Crucial Match Against Belgium
Ukraine's star striker Artem Dovbyk is in danger of missing the national team's upcoming UEFA Nations League playoff match against Belgium due to illness. Head coach Serhiy Rebrov confirmed the news during a press conference, revealing that the AS Roma forward is battling a high fever.
"Yesterday, Artem felt ill. Unfortunately, it's high fever. Our medical team is doing everything possible to help him recover. Today, he is not training with the team," said Rebrov.
The absence of Dovbyk, who has been in stellar form for both club and country, would be a significant blow to Ukraine's chances in this crucial playoff. The first leg against Belgium is set to take place on March 20 in Murcia, Spain, with kickoff at 20:45 CET. The return leg will be held in Genk, Belgium, on March 23.
Ukraine will need to find a way to compensate for Dovbyk's potential absence - the team's attacking options, including Roman Yaremchuk and Viktor Tsygankov, may need to step up in his place.
