Manchester City have confirmed star striker Erling Haaland sustained a left leg injury during their FA Cup quarterfinal victory over AFC Bournemouth. The Norwegian goalscorer has undergone initial scans and will consult with specialists in coming days.

City said on Monday that they anticipate Haaland "will be fit to play a further part in the remainder of this season including this summer's Fifa Club World Cup".

Haaland has already scored 30 goals this season and his absence will be a major blow to City, who are in the hunt for the Champions League and FA Cup. No timeline for his recovery is yet known.
