At least five English teams will play in the Champions League next season

Arsenal's emphatic 3-0 victory over Real Madrid has officially guaranteed that the Premier League will be represented by at least five clubs in the UEFA Champions League for the 2025/26 season.

While four places are allocated to England based on its UEFA coefficient ranking, a fifth spot is awarded to the league with one of the two best overall performances in European competitions this season. Thanks to Arsenal’s triumph, England has secured one of those top-two spots — making it mathematically uncatchable by any other league.

Despite recent eliminations for both Manchester City and Liverpool from European competitions, the Premier League continues to shine. Arsenal and Aston Villa are still in contention in the Champions League, while Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea remain active in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League.

Implications for the Premier League Table

This development means that fifth place in the 2024/25 Premier League will now offer direct qualification to the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. And the door isn’t closed there — if English sides win either the Champions League or Europa League without finishing in the top four domestically, up to seven English clubs could participate in Europe’s premier competition next season.

With multiple clubs still battling in continental tournaments, this season could mark a historic moment for English football in Europe.
