Inter and Lazio Share the Spoils in Draw That Hurts Both Sides

Inter - Lazio 2:2

Inter Milan missed a crucial opportunity to reclaim top spot in the Serie A standings after being held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Lazio — a result that does little to help either side in their respective campaigns.

Antonio Conte’s men remain one point behind leaders Napoli heading into the final matchday, failing to capitalise on their title rivals' slip against Parma. Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi’s side have now dropped to sixth place, leapfrogged by city rivals AS Roma, and are at risk of missing out on a spot in next season’s Europa League.

It was a topsy-turvy affair at the San Siro, with Inter twice taking the lead through Yann-Aurel Bisseck and Denzel Dumfries. But on both occasions, Lazio found a way back — and dramatically so. Pedro Rodríguez struck twice, including a last-gasp equaliser from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time, silencing the home crowd and stealing a vital point.

The draw leaves the title race wide open. On May 25, Napoli host Cagliari, while Inter travel to face newly-promoted Como. With just one point separating the top two, every second of the final matchday promises high-stakes drama.
