Lionel Messi could soon reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League, as fresh negotiations have reportedly begun between the Argentine’s representatives and Saudi officials regarding a blockbuster transfer.

Saudi Dreams Resurface

After leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, Messi opted to join Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, but he has openly admitted: “I seriously considered the Saudi league. I like the country, and I’ve seen how quickly football is developing there.”

Messi’s current MLS contract runs until the end of 2025, with an option for a one-year extension. However, without a formal renewal yet in place, the 36-year-old could become a free agent as early as 1 July.

Saudi Clubs Line Up

The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has reportedly reopened discussions with Messi’s camp, though no specific club has been confirmed at this stage. Leading candidates include Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ahli, and Al Ittihad.

Should the move materialize, Messi would once again share a league with longtime rival Ronaldo for the first time since 2018, reigniting one of the greatest individual rivalries in football history — but this time on Middle Eastern soil.
