Georges Mikautadze Emerges as Potential Rival for Artem Dovbyk at Roma
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma have identified Georges Mikautadze, the Georgian international and current Lyon striker, as their top priority to replace Tammy Abraham—a move that could set up a fascinating attacking duel with Ukrainian star Artem Dovbyk.
Tammy Abraham is set to leave the Italian capital for Beşiktaş in what is expected to be a record-breaking €20 million transfer for the Turkish club. The English forward, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, is reportedly ready to sign a four-year deal with the Süper Lig side.
Meanwhile, Mikautadze’s potential switch to Roma has been made feasible by Lyon’s financial crisis, which recently saw the club demoted to France’s second division due to financial irregularities. Roma are hoping to reinvest the Abraham transfer fee directly into signing Mikautadze for a similar amount—around €20 million.
Georges Mikautadze, 23, was one of Lyon’s bright sparks last season, scoring 17 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions. His dynamic style and recent performances with the Georgian national team at UEFA Euro 2024 have only increased interest from top European clubs.
