Manchester United

Former Manchester United coach and club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has shared a heartfelt goodbye following his departure from Old Trafford.

The Dutchman left the club after the arrival of Rúben Amorim, who opted not to include Van Nistelrooy in his coaching staff. Taking to social media platform X, Van Nistelrooy addressed United’s players, staff, and fans with an emotional message.

2024-25, English Premier League: Standings

"To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and the fans. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support. It has been a privilege and honour to represent the club as a player, coach and manager, and I will always cherish the memories we have shared together.

Manchester United will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope there are many more glory days at Old Trafford very soon - not only because I want the club to do well, but because you all deserve it! All the best and take care, Ruud."

A Short But Memorable Return

Van Nistelrooy returned to Manchester United in July, serving as an assistant to Erik ten Hag. After Ten Hag’s departure, the club entrusted Van Nistelrooy with interim managerial duties. His departure signals the end of a brief yet meaningful chapter in his connection with the club he served so admirably as a player.

The Dutchman, who scored 150 goals in 219 appearances during his time as a striker for United, leaves with his legacy at Old Trafford intact, as fans fondly remember his contributions on and off the pitch.
