One of the brightest young stars in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama, will miss the remainder of the 2024/25 season after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his right shoulder. The diagnosis was confirmed following his return to San Antonio after participating in the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco.

The San Antonio Spurs have stated that this is believed to be an isolated medical case. However, the 21-year-old French center will not be able to return to the court for the rest of the season. Earlier reports indicated that Wembanyama was set to miss the upcoming game against Oklahoma City Thunder due to a right knee contusion.

Before his injury, Wembanyama was having a stellar season, featuring in 46 games while averaging 33+ minutes per game and scoring 24.3 points per contest. The young Frenchman is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents in the NBA.
