The Ukrainian Association of Football has officially confirmed the appointment of Andrea Maldera as the new head coach of the Ukraine national team, marking a historic moment for Ukrainian football.

The decision was approved by the Executive Committee of the UAF following a recommendation from the National Teams Committee. Andrea Maldera has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend, becoming the first foreign manager ever to take charge of the Ukraine national football team.

Born on May 18, 1971, the Italian tactician has built a strong reputation across European football. Throughout his coaching career, Maldera worked as an assistant coach at AC Milan in Italy, Brighton & Hove Albion in England, and Olympique de Marseille in France.

However, his strongest connection with Ukrainian football came between 2016 and 2021, when he served as assistant to legendary striker and former head coach Andriy Shevchenko during one of the most successful modern periods for the Ukraine national team.
