Barcelona made a statement in Switzerland with a convincing 5-2 victory over FC Basel in a pre-season friendly, combining attacking flair with a ruthless second-half performance. New signings Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi were both handed starts, with the German forward making an immediate impact.

Adeyemi opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finishing from a pass by Raphinha to give Barcelona the lead. Basel responded before half-time, with Cheick Doucouré restoring parity and ensuring the hosts went into the interval with renewed belief.

The Catalan side, however, stepped up the tempo after the restart. Abdelkarim put Barcelona back in front in the 49th minute before Lamine Yamal, returning to action after his World Cup triumph, converted a penalty to make it 3-1.

The closing stages belonged to Belgian youngster Jesse Bisiyou. The highly rated talent produced a sensational two-minute cameo, scoring twice in the 89th minute and again in stoppage time to complete a spectacular finish and seal a 5-2 win for Barcelona.
