On August 23 the new season of Ukrainian Premier League has officially started with Shakhtar - Metallist-1925 game.

The last championship of Ukraine was stopped after the start of a full-scale war in February, therefore the start of the new season is symbolic for Ukrainian footabll. The UPL returns despite numerous obstacles.

President of the Ukrainian Football Association, member of the UEFA Executive Committee Andriy Pavelko said:

- The resurgence of football during a full-scale war is not only about sport. This is a demonstration of the fearlessness of our people, the invincibility of the spirit and the desire of Ukraine for the inevitable victory in the war. This is a unique initiative in world history – football against war, football for peace.

I am sure that it is football, that will give additional energy and strengthen the faith of society in the final success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The return of football will be one of the elements of this victory.
