Pep Guardiola lose three Premier League games in a row

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke candidly after his team’s humbling 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium, a result that leaves City trailing Liverpool by eight points in the Premier League standings (on points dropped).

Guardiola’s post-match comments were direct and pragmatic, refusing to shift focus away from his team’s current struggles:

“Of course we never expect to lose three Premier League games in a row. In that time we always expected a drop, but we were incredibly consistent. However, we cannot deny the reality that sometimes in football and sometimes in life it’s here.“

A Call to Accept Reality

Guardiola emphasized the importance of accountability and moving forward as a unit:

“The best way to go through the position is accept the reality. It's not about me, you, the weather or the grass, we have to start to winning games.“

A Turning Point for Manchester City?

This defeat marks one of the heaviest in Guardiola’s tenure at Manchester City, sparking concerns about the team’s form. With consecutive losses across competitions, City’s dominance is being questioned for the first time in years. However, Guardiola remains steadfast in his belief that the team can recover and refocus.

City’s immediate test comes in the Champions League, where they face Feyenoord in a must-win fixture to solidify their European campaign. For now, all eyes will be on whether Guardiola’s side can rediscover their winning formula.
