Manchester United's mid-season managerial reshuffle has come with a hefty price tag, exceeding £21 million, as revealed in the club’s recently published financial report.

On October 28, Manchester United announced the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, replacing him shortly after with Rúben Amorim from Sporting CP. According to the report, the departure of Ten Hag and his coaching staff cost the club £10.4 million in severance payments.

Additionally, United paid £11 million in compensation to Sporting for Amorim and members of his backroom team. This brings the total cost of the managerial change to an eye-watering £21.4 million.

As noted by journalist Ben Jacobs, the financial impact would have been significantly lower had the club not extended Ten Hag's contract last summer. This decision now seems like a costly miscalculation in hindsight.
