Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s head coach, reflected on his team’s 3-1 victory over Brentford in their first Premier League match of 2025. Speaking to BBC after the game, Arteta highlighted the importance of his side’s resilience and composure after conceding an early goal.

"This is a big win," Arteta said. "We played against a very strong team, well-organized and with excellent home results. Conceding an early goal feels like climbing a mountain, but the team remained patient. We needed to handle the situation emotionally."

The first half saw both sides trading goals, but Arsenal turned the game around with two quick strikes early in the second half to secure the victory.

"We started the second half well, took our chances, and were very effective in the box," Arteta noted. "After that, we maybe had to sit back a little, but we looked confident."

The win propelled Arsenal to second place in the Premier League standings, cutting the gap to leaders Liverpool. The Gunners will look to extend their unbeaten run in their next fixture, a challenging away match against Brighton.
