The Ring, the most famous magazine in the world of boxing, recognised Ukrainian super heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk as the boxer of the year.

In 2024 Usyk had two fights with Briton Tyson Fury - in both the Ukrainian celebrated victory. In the first fight on 18 May, Usyk won by a split decision of the judges. And on 21sst December in the rematch Oleksandr won by unanimous decision of referees (116:112, 116:112, 116:112).

The first fight between Usyk and Fury was also recognised by The Ring magazine as "Event of the Year".
