In the coming weeks, Portuguese forward Diogo Jota will be unavailable for Liverpool. He has been diagnosed with muscle issues, which head coach Arne Slot commented on, saying: "Jota slightly overloaded a certain muscle." Club medics identified the issue before Saturday's match against Brentford, which explains the Portuguese player's absence from the squad.

No further explanations were provided, leading the press to speculate that it might somehow be related to his recently healed rib injury. However, it turned out that Jota's problem is in a completely different area.

Ahead of the Champions League match against Lille, Slot mentioned that Jota is not the only one sidelined but also defender Joe Gomez. "It’s possible that Diogo will return slightly earlier than Joe. We expect them to be back within weeks rather than months," Evening Standard quoted Slot as saying.
