In a significant turn of events, Arsenal’s appeal against the red card shown to defender Myles Lewis-Skelly in their Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been successful. The 18-year-old was sent off in the 43rd minute of Arsenal’s victory last Saturday, but the decision has now been overturned.

Lewis-Skelly was dismissed after a challenge on Matt Doherty near the edge of the penalty area, which referee Michael Oliver deemed worthy of a straight red card. The young player faced a three-match ban, starting with this weekend’s clash against Manchester City.

However, an independent commission ruled that the red card was issued in error, and all sanctions against Lewis-Skelly have been lifted. In an official statement, the Football Association (FA) confirmed that the red card is now considered invalid.
