Ukrainian defender was shown a straight red card

In a dramatic turn of events during Bournemouth's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi was shown a straight red card for the first time in his Premier League career. The incident occurred in the 31st minute when Zabarnyi fouled Rayan Aït-Nouri in a heated challenge.

Referee Michael Salisbury initially brandished a yellow card, but after consulting the VAR, he upgraded it to a red. The decision left Bournemouth with 10 men and had immediate consequences—Wolves capitalized on their numerical advantage, scoring the opening goal just five minutes later.

This marks Zabarnyi's first red card in the Premier League, but it’s not his first dismissal overall. His last red card came on October 16, 2022, during a Ukrainian Premier League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
