Football Revolution: IFAB Set to Change Offside Rule

This weekend could mark a turning point in football history, as the International Football Association Board (IFAB) is expected to discuss and potentially approve the so-called "Wenger Law," reports L'Equipe. The proposed change, championed by legendary coach and FIFA executive Arsène Wenger, aims to redefine how offsides are determined.

The core of Wenger's proposal is simple: a player would only be considered offside if their entire body is ahead of the last defender. Currently, even the slightest body part—be it a finger, elbow, or nose—being beyond the defensive line is enough to flag an offside. Wenger's innovation seeks to give attackers more freedom, potentially leading to more goals and a more exciting style of play.

The new rule has already been tested in youth tournaments in Italy and Sweden, with positive feedback. Experts believe it could revolutionize the game by encouraging more attacking football and reducing controversial VAR decisions.

If approved, this change could be implemented in professional leagues as early as next season, marking one of the most significant rule changes in modern football.
