Europa League: Thursday’s Results Round-Up
The first legs of the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round wrapped up on Thursday night, delivering a wide range of action across Europe — from goalless battles in Greece to high-scoring thrillers further east.
It was a night of contrasts, with two fixtures in Greece offering little in terms of attacking drama. Both Panathinaikos vs Shakhtar Donetsk and PAOK vs VfL Wolfsburg ended in stalemates, with not a single goal to cheer for.
At the other end of the spectrum, fans were treated to goal fests in two of the evening’s most entertaining matchups. FCSB (formerly Steaua Bucharest) staged a stunning comeback to edge out the ambitious side from Kosovo, Drita, in a five-goal thriller.
