Inter have booked their place in the final of the Leagues Cup

Inter Miami have booked their place in the final of the Leagues Cup — the growing intercontinental tournament that pits the top sides from MLS against the best from Liga MX.

Facing Florida rivals Orlando City in the semifinal, things didn’t start well for Gerardo "Tata" Martino’s side. Orlando struck first, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime and looking the more composed team through much of the match. The pressure was on — until the inevitable happened.

In the 77th minute, Inter Miami were awarded a penalty. Stepping up with his trademark calm, Lionel Messi slotted the ball home to level the score. But the Argentine legend wasn’t done.

Just eleven minutes later, it was Messi again — this time finishing off a clinical move to hand Miami a 2-1 lead. The final score was sealed at 3-1, as the Herons marched into their first-ever major final with their No. 10 leading the way.

Inter Miami will face Seattle Sounders in the final, after the Western Conference giants dispatched LA Galaxy with a confident 2-0 win in the other semifinal.
