52-year-old Norwegian leaves just eight months after taking charge in early 2025

Beşiktaş have officially parted ways with head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær after the club’s disappointing elimination from European competition. The decision was made during a board meeting and confirmed by the Turkish club on Thursday.

The 52-year-old Norwegian leaves just eight months after taking charge in early 2025. His departure follows a 1–0 defeat to Swiss side Lausanne, which, combined with a 1–1 draw in the first leg, saw Beşiktaş crash out of the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying play-off round.

This latest European setback came on the heels of another early exit — a 2–4 and 0–2 aggregate defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round earlier this summer.

Mixed Results Under Solskjær

During his time in Istanbul, Solskjær managed 29 matches across all competitions, registering 15 wins, 5 draws, and 9 defeats. Under his leadership, Beşiktaş scored 52 goals and conceded 32.
