Eight fixtures lit up the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, with plenty of drama across the country. The standout scoreline came in Barnsley, where the League One side were swept aside 6-0 by Premier League outfit Brighton.

There was disappointment for Everton, who crashed out after a 2-0 defeat away to Wolves. Ukrainian defender Vitalii Mykolenko started on the bench but was introduced in the 78th minute, unable to prevent the Toffees’ exit.

Chelsea also faced a scare in their tie against Lincoln City. The hosts struck just before half-time to take a surprise lead, but the Blues responded quickly after the interval. Goals from George and Facundo Buonanotte, scored within two minutes of each other, flipped the match on its head and sealed a 2-1 win for Enzo Maresca’s men.
