Inter Miami CF have officially confirmed that club captain and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has signed a new contract keeping him in Major League Soccer (MLS) until the end of the 2028 season. The 2022 World Cup champion will continue to lead the South Florida side for at least three more years, solidifying his long-term future in the United States.

“I’m very happy to stay here and keep building this project, which started as a dream and has become a beautiful reality,” said Messi. “Since the day I arrived in Miami, I’ve been incredibly happy — so I’m truly excited to continue playing here.”

Messi first joined Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, marking the beginning of a transformative era for the club and American soccer as a whole. In the 2025 MLS season, the Argentine superstar delivered a remarkable campaign — scoring 29 goals and capturing the league’s Golden Boot award.
