It was a wild night across the NBA

It was a wild night across the NBA, one that trimmed the list of unbeaten teams and delivered standout performances from stars and rookies alike. At the Amway Center, Orlando Magic faltered at home against a shorthanded Atlanta Hawks squad, as Trae Young took control late with 25 points to seal the win. Paolo Banchero struggled once again, managing just 11 points in a frustrating outing for the Magic.

The night, however, belonged to Luka Dončić. The Slovenian superstar exacted revenge on Minnesota Timberwolves for last season’s playoff exit, exploding for 49 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists as his Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 128–110 win. It was vintage Luka — all flair, fire, and ruthless efficiency.

In Portland, the Trail Blazers earned an emotional 139–119 victory over a weary Golden State Warriors team. With head coach Chauncey Billups suspended, assistant Tiago Splitter took charge and celebrated his first-ever win as an NBA head coach. Portland’s offense clicked from start to finish, showing newfound energy under Splitter’s temporary leadership.

Elsewhere, the top overall draft pick Cooper Flagg and his Dallas Mavericks endured a painful collapse against the Washington Wizards. After leading by 20 early, the Mavs fell 107–117 at home. Flagg posted 18 points but couldn’t prevent the meltdown, as Keyshawn George stole the spotlight — the second-year Wizard erupted for 34 points and 11 rebounds, continuing his breakout campaign.

The night wrapped up in New Orleans with an overtime thriller. Victor Wembanyama put up 29 points, 11 rebounds, and an incredible 9 blocks as his San Antonio Spurs edged the Pelicans 120–116. Despite fouling out in the closing minutes, “Wemby” had already set the tone, and his teammates finished the job to secure a gutsy road win.
