Andrii Matiukha Foundation continues supporting first aid training for Ukrainian power engineers: another session held in Kyiv

Today, Ukrenergo repair crews work in high-risk conditions, as the enemy often deliberately targets teams sent to restore damaged facilities after attacks. In such circumstances, having basic life-saving skills is absolutely essential.

That’s why the Andrii Matiukha Foundation supports the “Protection for Ukrenergo Repair Crews” program, under which FAST specialists conduct first aid training.

In October, the training sessions took place in Kyiv as well. Ten energy workers learned how to act in critical moments — mastering skills that can save lives when every second counts.

Ukrenergo employees practiced stopping bleeding with a tourniquet, assessing a wounded person’s condition, placing casualties in a safe position, wound packing, and performing CPR.

“This knowledge gives our energy workers confidence — and confidence saves lives. It helps them protect themselves and their colleagues when they have to work right after enemy strikes. After all, the enemy often attacks repair crews a second time,” — said Andrii Matiukha.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, power engineers have become one of the most high-risk professions in Ukraine. The enemy continues to target critical infrastructure: over 63,000 energy facilities have been destroyed so far, with at least 160 workers killed and more than 300 injured. Thirteen of them lost their lives while performing repairs directly at damaged sites.

The “Protection for Ukrenergo Repair Crews” program will cover the entire country. To date, over 30 training sessions have been held in various cities across Ukraine, with more than 600 energy workers trained. Organizers plan to conduct over 70 sessions in total, enabling more than 1,500 power industry employees to acquire essential first aid skills.
