Montreal Canadiens claimed a crucial away victory in the NHL, defeating the Florida Panthers 3–2 thanks to a starring performance from Nick Suzuki.

The Canadiens captain scored twice, including the decisive overtime winner, to seal a dramatic success in Sunrise. That goal not only secured two valuable points but also lifted Montreal into third place in the Eastern Conference — a significant step forward in their season.

For Suzuki, the night carried extra historical weight. He now has 19 career points scored in overtime, setting a new all-time club record for the Montreal Canadiens — another milestone for one of the franchise’s modern leaders.

Elsewhere in the East, the Carolina Hurricanes remain top of the conference despite suffering a heavy 1–5 defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Hurricanes were outplayed from the start, conceding three goals in the opening period and never recovering.

Stuart Skinner was a key figure for Pittsburgh, stopping 27 shots to earn his first win in goal for the Penguins following his trade from the Edmonton Oilers. A confident display that helped dismantle one of the league’s strongest teams.
