Chelsea - Arsenal 2:3

Arsenal took a crucial step towards the Carabao Cup final after claiming a dramatic 3–2 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of their semi-final clash. In a pulsating London derby, the Gunners showed composure, efficiency and attacking intent when it mattered most.

The visitors made a lightning-fast start and took the lead inside seven minutes, with Ben White finishing confidently to stun the home crowd. Arsenal looked sharp and well-organised, pressing high and forcing mistakes as Chelsea struggled to settle into the game.

Early in the second half, Viktor Gyökeres finally ended his goal drought, capitalising on a costly error from Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez. The goal gave Arsenal breathing space and underlined their clinical edge on the night.

Chelsea refused to fold, however, and found renewed energy from the bench. Substitute Alejandro Garnacho inspired a comeback attempt with a superb brace, dragging the Blues back into contention. Between his two goals, Arsenal struck again through Martín Zubimendi, who finished off a slick passing move involving Gyökeres to restore the visitors’ advantage.

Despite suffering defeat in his first home match in charge, Liam Rosenior will take encouragement from his side’s response and attacking intent. With only a one-goal deficit separating the teams, the tie remains finely balanced.

The decisive second leg — with a place in the Carabao Cup final at stake — will take place at the Emirates Stadium on 3 February.
