FC Porto ended a two-year winless streak against their fierce rivals Benfica, securing a hard-fought 1–0 victory in the Taça de Portugal quarter-final. The decisive goal came in the 15th minute from Bednarek, and despite relentless pressure from the visitors, Porto held firm to book their place in the semi-finals under the guidance of Francesco Farioli.
Anatoliy Trubin put in a solid display for Benfica, producing several key saves to keep his side in contention throughout the match. Meanwhile, Georgiy Sudakov, introduced in the 44th minute, orchestrated play from midfield with vision and precision, but Porto’s defense remained disciplined and unyielding.
The drama continued until stoppage time, when Pavlidis had a golden opportunity to equalize but failed to convert from close range. As a result, Benfica exit the tournament, while Porto advance to continue their quest for silverware on three fronts.
