Anderlecht have opted for a sharp change of direction following a 0–2 defeat to Standard Liège. The Brussels club have dismissed head coach Besnik Hasi, with Edward Still appointed as interim manager.

The Albanian coach was summoned to an emergency meeting with the club’s hierarchy on Sunday evening, where he was informed of the decision. Still will now take charge of preparations for Anderlecht’s next fixture — a Belgian Cup quarter-final against Antwerp, scheduled for Thursday.

Hasi was appointed shortly before last season’s play-offs but failed to stabilise the team’s performances. Despite reaching the Belgian Cup semi-finals, league form remained a major concern, with the club collecting just five points from their last seven matches. That run intensified tensions both in the dressing room and at board level.

An earlier draw with Dender had already raised alarm bells, while the loss to Standard proved the final straw. In an official statement, Anderlecht thanked Hasi for his professionalism and commitment during his time in charge.
