Inter Miami reschedule friendly after Lionel Messi injury scare

Lionel Messi has suffered an injury ahead of the new MLS season, prompting Inter Miami to postpone their scheduled friendly against Independiente del Valle.
The American club confirmed that the match, originally set for 14 February, has been moved to 26 February in light of the Argentine’s condition.
“We know how much our fans look forward to every match involving our team. We hope to see you all very soon,” read an official club statement.
Messi sustained the issue during a friendly against Ecuadorian side Barcelona SC. The 38-year-old has been diagnosed with a left thigh injury, raising concerns just weeks before the competitive campaign begins.
Last season, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner registered 48 goal contributions, the second-highest total in league history. Inter Miami face a demanding year across three competitions, while April is set to mark the grand opening of Miami Freedom Park — a venue where Messi, whose contract now runs until 2028, is expected to remain the club’s marquee attraction.
