Mark van Bommel has officially been named the new head coach of the Belgium national team, with the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) confirming the appointment on its official website. The 49-year-old Dutch coach has signed a contract that will keep him in charge of the Red Devils through to the end of UEFA Euro 2028.

According to the statement, Van Bommel will officially begin his new role on 15 August 2026, leading one of Europe's most talented national teams into a new era. The RBFA expressed its confidence in the experienced Dutchman, whose coaching résumé includes spells with VfL Wolfsburg and Royal Antwerp.

His greatest managerial achievement came with Royal Antwerp, where he guided the club to a historic domestic double by winning both the Belgian Pro League and the Belgian Cup during the 2022/23 season. That remarkable campaign cemented Van Bommel's reputation as one of the most respected Dutch coaches in European football.

The new coaching staff of the Belgium national team will include former Netherlands international Boudewijn Zenden, alongside Maarten Martens and Reinier Robbemond, as the Red Devils prepare for the road to UEFA Euro 2028.
