Barcelona began their new La Liga campaign in emphatic fashion, sweeping aside Elche 5-0 in a dominant display. The reigning champions controlled the game from the outset and made their superiority count before half-time.

Raphinha opened the scoring from the penalty spot before new signing Karim Adeyemi doubled Barcelona's advantage just before the break. The Catalan side showed no signs of easing off after the interval, continuing to dictate possession and keep Elche pinned back.

Raphinha and Fermin Lopez both completed their braces as Barcelona turned the match into a rout. Debutant Gordon also made a major impact, providing two assists as the champions produced an attacking masterclass.

The only concern for Barcelona was an injury to Gavi, who was forced off during the first half. Otherwise, it was an almost perfect opening day for the Catalan giants.
