Everton and Manchester United produced a dramatic four-goal thriller in the third round of the Premier League, with an extraordinary late twist denying the visitors all three points.

Vitalii Mykolenko played the full 90 minutes for Everton and helped his side avoid defeat against a Manchester United team that arrived at the start of the new season with major ambitions.

The visitors came close to opening the scoring as early as the seventh minute. Bruno Fernandes met the ball first time, but his effort crashed against the crossbar.

Manchester United finally broke the deadlock shortly after half-time. Bryan Mbeumo produced a superb long-range finish, finding the bottom corner with precision to put the visitors ahead.

Everton refused to give up and were rewarded in the 83rd minute. George restored parity with a brilliant strike into the top corner, setting up a dramatic finale.

Just five minutes later, Manchester United appeared to have snatched victory. Following a cross from Luke Shaw, Benjamin Sesko rose highest and headed the ball into the net to make it 2-1.

But Everton had one final twist in store. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Maitland-Niles produced another superb finish into the top corner to rescue a point for the hosts.

The final whistle confirmed a remarkable 2-2 draw.
