Arsenal produced a statement comeback at the Emirates, beating Chelsea to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season and hand Xabi Alonso his first defeat in charge of the Blues.

Morgan Rogers stunned the home crowd by putting Chelsea ahead after just 77 seconds, setting the tone for a frantic opening at the Emirates. Arsenal thought they had responded when Riccardo Calafiori found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The hosts refused to panic, and Kai Havertz eventually punished his former club to bring Arsenal level before half-time. The German's goal changed the momentum of the contest and gave the home side a platform to complete the turnaround.

That comeback was completed just five minutes after the restart. Martin Odegaard struck in the 50th minute to put Arsenal in front and cap a dramatic recovery.

Chelsea still had chances to rescue something from the match. Pedro Neto hit the post with the score at 1-1, while David Raya produced a superb late save to deny Estevao and preserve Arsenal's advantage in the closing stages.

The result sends Arsenal up to second in the Premier League table on nine points, with only Manchester City ahead of them on goal difference. Chelsea, meanwhile, drop to fourth on six points.
