Barcelona made a sensational start to their new Champions League campaign, crushing Feyenoord 5-1 in a one-sided encounter at Camp Nou.

Heavy rain in Barcelona did little to dampen the attacking intensity of Hansi Flick's side. Instead, the Catalan giants turned the meeting with the Dutch champions into a display of relentless attacking football. With overwhelming possession, constant pressure and more than 20 attempts on goal, Barcelona underlined just how difficult they could be to contain this season.

The hosts needed only three minutes to break the deadlock. Lamine Yamal picked out Raphinha, who brilliantly sent two defenders the wrong way with a clever feint before firing into the far corner. Midway through the first half, Karim Adeyemi doubled Barcelona's advantage with a superb curling finish, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb before the interval.

Things went from bad to worse for Feyenoord after the restart. In the 57th minute, Raphinha kept his composure to score his second of the night. Twenty minutes later, Lamine Yamal found the net to further extend Barcelona's lead, before Gabriel Jesus capped his appearance with a debut goal for the Catalan club in the 85th minute.

There was at least one consolation for Feyenoord: they avoided leaving the legendary stadium empty-handed on the scoresheet. In the 82nd minute, Steijn converted Borges' diagonal delivery from the right to give the Dutch side a brief moment of relief.
