Sevilla claimed a crucial victory over Valencia as Juan Iglesias struck late to move the Nervionenses into the Champions League places and pile further pressure on Valencia head coach Carlos Corberan.

It was a frustratingly quiet opening 45 minutes, with neither side able to create a clear-cut opportunity. Valencia were dealt an early blow when Tárrega was forced off with an injury before the half-hour mark, adding to the visitors' problems.

The game finally came to life after the break, with Sevilla showing greater intent in the final third and putting increasing pressure on Dimitrievski. Kike Salas went close with a header from a corner, while Stassin saw his effort come back off the post.

Valencia struggled to produce a response of their own. Their best opportunity came when Otorbi hit the woodwork, but the visitors were unable to turn their limited chances into a goal.

The decisive moment arrived in the 84th minute. Kochorashvili delivered a dangerous cross into the box and Juan Iglesias rose highest to head home. The goal came after José Gayà's attempt to catch Sevilla offside failed, leaving the home side with a golden opportunity and Iglesias made no mistake.
