Marseille - PSG 1:2

Paris Saint-Germain claimed a crucial 2-1 victory away at Marseille in the headline fixture of the Ligue 1 weekend, with goals from Ferran Torres and Marquinhos securing an important three points for the defending French champions.

The visitors finally broke the deadlock midway through the second half. Ferran Torres rose highest to meet a cross into the box and powered his header into the net, giving PSG the advantage.

However, Marseille responded quickly. On 72 minutes, Angel Gomes escaped the PSG defence and calmly finished past the goalkeeper to bring the hosts level at 1-1.

The parity lasted only a matter of minutes. PSG immediately pushed forward again, and another dangerous delivery into the penalty area caused problems for the Marseille defence. Marquinhos reacted quickest after his initial effort was saved, pouncing on the rebound to restore the visitors' lead.

The evening became even more difficult for Marseille when Timothy Weah was sent off, leaving the hosts with 10 men. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Marseille still had a late opportunity to rescue a point.

Deep into stoppage time, Nayef Aguerd found himself unmarked in front of goal after another cross into the box. But the defender could not keep his effort on target, and PSG held on for a hard-fought victory.
