The Window is Closed: Nations League Pauses Until November

The final matches of the opening part of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League group stage were played yesterday, bringing the first international window to a close. After four matches, the teams will now take a break until November, with the remaining fixtures set to decide the final standings and the places in the knockout stages.
Only three teams in League A have emerged from the opening four rounds with a perfect record: Spain, Portugal and Switzerland. All three have won every game so far and are firmly in control of their respective campaigns, putting themselves in a strong position to reach the playoffs.
Elsewhere, however, even the leading sides have dropped points. And in some groups there is still no clear leader. Group A2 is a particularly intriguing example, with Netherlands and, somewhat unexpectedly, Greece both sitting on eight points.
The final two rounds of the UEFA Nations League will be played between November 12 and 17. By then, the picture should be complete, with all participants in the main playoffs and the promotion-relegation play-offs between the divisions finally confirmed.
