AS Roma claimed an impressive 4-2 victory over Cagliari at home in Serie A, taking three crucial points and closing the gap on their city rivals at the top of the table. The hosts endured a nightmare start when Mbala Nzola converted a penalty after Niccolò Pisilli was penalised for handball. However, Roma responded swiftly, with the outstanding Stefano Lulli restoring parity with a well-timed header before setting up Pisilli for a golden scoring opportunity.

Cagliari refused to go down without a fight, with Daniel Maldini finding the net late in the contest to give the visitors renewed hope. Yet Gian Piero Gasperini's side held their nerve and ultimately secured a vital victory in the race for European qualification.

A clinical finish from Nicola Mora helped Roma regain control before Donyell Malen delivered the decisive final blow.
