According to FC Bayern website, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has become the first German to be inducted into Italian football's Hall of Fame. The former striker and FC Bayern captain, who joined Inter Milan from Munich in 1984, was honoured by Italian FA president Gabriele Gravina at a ceremony at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.

"It's a very special honour for me to be inducted into the Italian Hall of Fame," said Rummenigge, who handed over the reins as FC Bayern CEO to Oliver Kahn last summer after 19 years at the helm. "This accolade shows the special relationship I've always had to Inter Milan, to Italy and to the Italian fans. It was a special time for me and my family that I look back on with much gratitude."
