Ukrainian journalist Viktor Vatsko shared his opinion on the appointment of Darijo Srna as caretaker coach of Shakhtar:

- Nobody knows yet what kind of coach is Srna. However at the psychological level, this decision will be a shake-up for the team.

I look at Shakhtar's calendar - there is LNZ, then Barcelona in the Champions League, Chornomorets, Victoria in the Ukrainian Cup, Dynamo and Barcelona again - in the UPL and the Cup there is no room for error.

Shakhtar is really looking for a new head coach. They have a shortlist of desirable candidates. As far as I heard, these are European coaches and only European ones. But there are no progress in the negotiations with anyone.

Srna could be a jackpot for Shakhtar if he succeeds. A club legend with enormous experience as a football player, a very famous personality, a true “miner’s heart”, who has been working at the club for a long time and knows everything about all the players. He is a very good communicator and is able to select a strong coaching staff.

From what I know, this is a win-win story for Srna. In case of success - the status of a strong football coach, in case of failure - Dario will return to work as Shakhtar's sporting director. There is such an agreement between Srna and president Rinat Akhmetov.
