Thibaut Courtois suffered a new injury and is out for the rest of the season
Real Madrid has officially announced that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been injured again.
The Belgian was first injured in August 2023 and has been out since then. His final return to action was expected this month, but today it became known that the goalkeeper suffered a new injury during training.
"Following tests carried out today, Thibaut Courtois has been diagnosed with a ruptured internal meniscus in his right knee. The injury occurred during today's training session. The injury will be monitored," reads a statement on the Real Madrid website.
According to Marca, Courtois left today's training session in tears. The goalkeeper is expected to undergo surgery which will force him to miss the rest of the season.
We would like to add that the main goalkeeper of Real Madrid in the 2023/24 season is the Ukrainian Andriy Lunin, who won the competition for a place in the squad against Kepa.
