The Sumy Region Football Association announced the death of former coach of Dynamo Kyiv and the Ukrainian national team Mikhailo Fomenko. He was 75 years old.

During his career as a player, Mikhailo Fomenko played for Spartak Sumy, Zorya and Dynamo. As part of the Kyiv team, he became the champion of the USSR three times, won the Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. With the USSR national team he was the silver medalist of Euro 1972.

In the Ukrainian Championship Fomenko coached Dynamo, Borisfen, Metalist, CSKA Kyiv, Metallurg and Tavriya. From 2012 to 2016 he headed the Ukrainian national team, which he coached during Euro 2016.
