Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner won the second Grand Slam of his career. After his triumph in Australia this winter, he has now got a trophy in New York.

In the final Sinner faced the home hero Taylor Fritz, as Italian's class and endurance were crucial - he won with a score of 3:0 (6:3, 6:4, 7:5).

23-year-old Sinner is the world's number one tennis player, a position he reached in the ATP rankings in the summer of 2024. He became the first Italian tennis player in history to top the world singles rankings (men's or women's).
