"The team responded really well – in the best way," Carsley told ITV Football. "They scored three good goals. We were a lot better tonight. We played with much more control. We had massive possession, lots and lots of passes, and created chances. But we can still do better."

He added: "Finland were very well-organised with five at the back. We had to be patient to create space. When you have as much possession as we did, you're always going to find chances after 70 minutes. The impact the substitutes had was really pleasing."
