The 17-year-old winger sustained a knock and underwent a series of tests. Fortunately for the Catalans, the results revealed only a bruise. However, as a precautionary measure, the club has decided to give the rising star a few extra days of rest, meaning Yamal will miss the upcoming match against Sevilla.
Meanwhile, Barcelona remain hopeful that Robert Lewandowski will be fit to play, despite suffering a bruise while representing Poland. The veteran striker didn’t start in Poland’s match against Croatia but came off the bench in the 62nd minute.
Barcelona currently sit atop La Liga ahead of the 10th round of fixtures, leading Real Madrid by three points. Lewandowski is the league’s top scorer with 10 goals this season.
